Top 5 WWE Superstars Who Hate Vince McMahon

CM Punk
Vince McMahon is unquestionably the highest power in wrestling today. He has reinvented the WWE on several occasions and even recently turned the company into a marketing powerhouse worldwide. Sadly the expansion of the WWE has subjected us to far too many Great Khali segments, but on the other hand the global growth could also be credited for the extensive airtime given to the ‘Russian’ starlet, Lana – swings and roundabouts.
Many people have labelled McMahon a genius, others have dubbed him insane and frankly there are strong arguments for both. It is hard to believe that the catalyst behind WrestleMania is the same man that pitched the idea of an incestuous storyline between himself and his own daughter, but he did. Thankfully, Stephanie was naturally repulsed by the idea of sharing an on-screen intimate relationship with her father and turned Vince’s tasteless, taboo suggestion down instantly.
Let's take a look at superstars who dislike WWE chairman
5) Josh Mathews

While appearing as a guest on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Josh Mathews discussed his time in the WWE, and described Vince as simply being “out of touch” today when it comes to the wrestling business. Mathews described Vince as someone who just doesn’t understand the business anymore, and claims Vince doesn’t even know what his own product is anymore. Josh even went on to say that Vince lives in his own world, hence the term the “WWE Universe”, which Josh claims is the perfect description for what the WWE is today. Matthews also references CM Punk and how Punk also felt that Vince didn’t get it anymore. Finally, Matthews was also critical on how Vince refers to wrestlers as superstars, saying that it’s “lame” to call them that and they should be regarded as athletes, not superstars.
4) Jim Ross

“Good Ole J.R.” has had a seriously up and down relationship with Vince over the years and not all of it has been good. It really got started when J.R. worked for WCW, doing some good business that would clash with McMahon’s own expansion moves. When Ross was signed to the company in 1993, his big debut was dressed in a toga for WrestleMania IX. He would do commentary before 1996 where he brought to the public how Vince fired him after a bout with Bell’s palsy and how he hated the guy, real beef of Ross brought to the public.
They would make up a bit but still tense situations as in 2005, Ross took time off for colon surgery and Vince did a video mocking him majorly which Ross stated was in terrible taste and he hated it. Then in 2013, Ross was basically fired from the company, supposedly over his mishandling of Ric Flair at a public event and went public about Vince being out of touch. They may have mutual respect but make no mistake, J.R’s hating of Vince is well documented and the fact both men acknowledge it speaks volumes of how hate and respect can go hand in hand.
3) Goldust

As most of you already know, the two are back on good terms today, but once upon a time, according to Goldust, this was certainly not the case. Goldust had a very difficult relationship with Vince, quitting the company twice and being fired once. During a shoot interview while being a part of the TNA roster, Goldust finally let go sounding off on his relationship with Vince. Dustin remembers a particular event which saw his father get inducted into the Hall of Fame; during the event, Goldust was introduced as Dustin Runnells, while his brother was introduced as Cody Rhodes. Goldust claims Vince took a jab at him by not referring to him as a part of the Rhodes family. Goldust was none too pleased when talking about this situation. Goldust also commented on how badly the Owen Hart death was played off, calling it an absolute embarrassment to have continued the show after his death. He then concluded the shoot describing Vince as being someone that doesn’t care about talent and only cares about money. Listening to this interview, you probably would have thought that it would have impossible for the two to patch things up but as you know with Vince, nothing is impossible, it’s just business.
2) Rob Van Dam

During a shoot interview, Rob Van Dam recalls the brutal travel wrestlers take part in during the year. Van Dam recalls a specific situation in where he couldn’t wait to finally take a break from wrestling, when the WWE had scheduled a 10 day break during Christmas time. Rob was ecstatic about the break and finally getting some time to relax. Just before
the break, Vince held a meeting telling the superstars they would be going to Iraq during Christmas to put on a show for the troops, Vince claimed it was optional, but let everyone know it was important that they went. Van Dam raised his hand during the meeting and simply said, “no thank you”. After the meeting, McMahon would speak to Rob asking why he did not want to go; Rob replied that he was spent and needed the time off. Vince would tell Rob that this would be the best experience of his life. Following their encounter, Van Dam was so upset that he claimed to have wanted to “fight” McMahon. Van Dam later spoke to the head of talent relation John Laurinaitis, and explained to him that he was not going no matter what. Van Dam ended up getting his wish and did not take the trip. RVD has said that if the problem would have furthered, he would have fought Vince and left the company. The two are said to have a very “rocky” relationship till this day.
1) CM Punk

Punk’s tenure in WWE was filled with talk of his backstage antics and moods, not happy about often held back and criticizing stuff like the new ECW. It wasn’t until 2011 that it came out in that now famous on-air rant about the entire direction of the company that ripped McMahon’s entire “sports entertainment” vision and the man himself. Their on-air promos clearly had Vince uncomfortable with Punk mocking him on his style and business practices and while that led to great TV, it also sparked real enmity between them.
It just got worse when Punk left the company and proceeded to do one interview after another trashing Vince in every way, including dismissing the man’s attempt at a public apology. While Vince appears open to a return, Punk has made it clear he loathes the other man and it’s unlikely he’ll ever come back, making him one of the bigger stars of today to carry such a loathing for McMahon.
